In 1974 our founder, Fred Schumm, started the business. At that time he was teaching at Montclair State College in the field of dendrology (the study of trees, furniture and other wood applications). With his expertise in designing and building furniture, he established Professional Kitchens. The focus of the company was to use only the best quality material and superior craftsmanship with lasting design applications. Today his emphasis continues to be not on the growth of the company, but instead on the enjoyment and pride of creating enduring kitchens.

In the 1990’s after graduating from college, his sons, Christian and Carl Schumm, began Professional Construction Co. and Schumm Remodelers. Professional Kitchens then became the designer and source for Carl and Christian’s kitchen and cabinet needs. Today both Professional Construction and Schumm Remodelers are able to offer a complete, uninterrupted remodel of your home. The large, and loyal group of clients garnered over the years serve as our showroom of cabinets and workmanship.

The cabinets are a great quality at a cost lower than we found other custom cabinets to be. Styles and designs are consistent with what homeowners want.
